November Events

Backpack Ministry volunteer after 10:00am Mass on Sundays. Help us pray and distribute food & essentials to our brothers and sisters in need in the area. See Michael after Mass to get involved. The team is typically back by 12:30pm.

Weekday Adoration 11:45am-12:10pm before 12:15pm Daily Mass Monday-Friday.

Sunday, November 1st- Bring photos of your loved ones who have passed for our Altar of Remembrance. 

Thursday, November 5th, 12th, 19th- 7:00-8:30 PM Come to Old Saint Mary’s in Greektown for OCIA!

Tuesday, November 10th- Friendsgiving! Join us at Washington Park Apartments- 1431 Washington Blvd., Detroit, MI at 6:00pm. Please bring a side to share!  Max will be roasting his legendary turkeys again this year, so come ready to eat! Sunday, November 15th- Sandwich-making for Neighborhood Services after 10:00am Mass in the lower level of the church. It takes about 15 minutes! 

Tuesday, November 17th- Holy Hour 7:00pm-8:00pm in the church. We will use the Divine Office app for Night Prayer moving forward. Feel free to download it ahead of time. We will go out for a beverage after!

Friday, November 20th- Light the Night 6:30pm-9:00pm. Help us bring the Real Presence to the Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting! Join us in the church at 6:30pm to serve hot cocoa, give tours, and offer prayer in the church while visitors are in the area. Contact Jimmy to sign up!

Saturday, November 21st- Outreach Safety Training with Avalon Healing Center Join us after our regular street outreach on Saturday, November 21^st from 12-1 PM in the lower level of the church for a training session put on by Avalon Healing Center. We'll learn how to recognize signs that someone may be experiencing domestic violence, human trafficking, or sexual assault, and how to respond safely and compassionately. This is a great opportunity to equip ourselves with safe ways to aid our brothers and sisters in need. 
 
Thursday, November 26th- Happy Thanksgiving! There is NO Adoration, Confession, or Daily Mass Wednesday, 11/25, Thursday, 11/26, Friday, 11/27, or Monday, 11/30. There is no Backpack Ministry on 11/28 or 11/29.

Advent Retreat

Looking for a way to quiet your mind and heart to prepare for the Advent and Christmas Season? Join us Friday, December 11th- Sunday, December 13th for a time of prayer, silence, Adoration, and community. 

The retreat will be co-ed, $150 per person (lodging and all meals included). If you would like a single room, the cost is $300 (space is limited for single rooms) 

Location- DeSales Retreat Center, Brooklyn, MI (about 1 hour 30 min from Detroit)

Schedule: 

• Friday, December 11th- 7:30pm Welcome dinner and social time.
• Saturday, December 12th- Breakfast, retreat talk by Fr. Sal, silent time on your own (Eucharistic Adoration available), lunch, time on your own, Mass, dinner, Praise and Worship + Eucharistic Adoration, evening beverages and social time.
• Sunday, December 13th- Breakfast, pack up, honorable closure, leave at 11:00am.
